Oral Thin Film technology is set to revolutionise the mode of drug administration.
ZIM Labs specialises in developing advanced Orodispersible films, Oromucosal films, and fast dissolving oral strips, offering cutting-edge oral thin film technology for pharmaceutical and nutraceutical applications.
Oral thin films are divided into 2 categories -
Orodispersible films are non-mucoadhesive and are designed to break down immediately upon contact with saliva. There are two kinds of orodispersible films: “orally disintegrating” and “orally dissolving.” Both types immediately disintegrate in the mouth, but dissolve in different areas of the body.
Orally disintegrating films, which tend to be poorly water-soluble drugs, disintegrate in the mouth and are then both dissolved and absorbed in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. In contrast, orally dissolving films are generally water-soluble and therefore disintegrate and dissolve simultaneously in the mouth.
As an oral thin film manufacturer based in India, ZIM Labs creates fast-dissolving oral thin films that prioritise patient comfort and compliance.
Oromucosal films are placed either onto or under the tongue, or on the inside of the cheek. As mucoadhesives, they are designed to adhere to the inside of the oral cavity and release drugs slowly across the mucous membrane (i.e., under the tongue or through cheek) directly into a patient’s systemic circulation
Our patented Thinoral® technology delivers oral dissolving films that are instantly wettable, rapidly dissolving, non-sticky, non-tacky, and non-curving. Suitable for both solid and liquid actives, these fast-dissolving oral thin films are compatible with taste masking techniques and nanotechnology-based formulations. Flexible, easy to store, and high-throughput, they represent the next generation in oral thin films.
Patented Thinoral® technology is the Future of Pharma & Nutraceuticals.
Mucostrip® technology delivers a convenient mucoadhesive oral dissolving film that is simply placed on the tongue with no water required for medicine administration. Mucostrip-OTF offers hassle-free administration to non-cooperative patients with its convince of administration anywhere, anytime. It also offers good taste, better palatability, is highly portable, and its distinctive dosage form assists better compliance by geriatric patients on multiple drug regimens.

Sublingual administration of oral thin films bypasses first-pass hepatic metabolism, facilitating rapid absorption into systemic circulation. This delivery route is ideal for medication requires fast onset of actions. Our Thinoral® Films and oral soluble films also ensure uniformity, stability, and patient convenience.
Bilayer-OTF technology provide a potential means of reducing the pill burden for patients as they can administer two or more active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) in a single FDC (fixed dose combination) dosage form. Bilayer-OTF has one adhesive layer to ensure drug release through Buccal mucosa and a backing layer that avoids drug release in oral cavity.
Augmenting our OTF platform, our technology development strategy has expanded to include a wide range of technologies, such as Nanotechnology in combination with OTF, Oral spray drug delivery, and cutting-edge technology for drug content uniformity, and suitable for combination drug delivery.
Our portfolio includes orally disintegrating strips, developed by an experienced oral strip manufacturer’s team based in India, offering effective drug delivery and ease of administration.
