Most of the hand sanitizers are alcohol-based and have the least activity against most common viruses. More than 80 percent of ethyl alcohol concentration is needed for the virucidal activity, but the sanitizers are less effective on enveloped viruses. Other limitations include chances of misuse as ethanol is an active ingredient, allergic reactions in some people, short duration of action, and presence of bleaching agents, peroxides, and other harmful chemicals. The sanitizer developed by Zim Labs overcomes all these limitations.
The EN 1500 is a European Standard test method that evaluates the efficacy of a hygienic handrub by measuring the number of viable bacteria remaining on the fingertips after contamination and handrub exposure. The Zim sanitizer is qualified as EN 1500 hygienic handrub method. This is a feather in Zim’s cap as it crosses a milestone to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
Zim Labs is a pioneer in the development of Oral Disintegrating Strips (ODS). Ginger has a lot of medicinal properties with the extract inhibiting the calicivirus, HSV-1, acyclovir-resistant strains of HSV-1, HSV-2 virus, Chikungunya, and Zika. Zim Labs blended the healing properties of Ginger into a strip and made it easily ingestible.
The highly portable Ginger-based ODS disintegrates instantly and there is a hassle-free administration. It can be simply placed on the tongue and it dissolves. It’s non-obstructive in nature and can be given to elderly and bed-ridden patients. Gingerol is Zim’s contribution to the nation in its fight against Covid-19.
